The power of video content for nonprofits.

Have you ever wondered what could happen if you tried something new? Well, here's a simple answer: you won't know until you give it a shot. This rings particularly true in today's digital age, where social media has become a vital tool for nonprofits to connect with their audience and drive meaningful change.

Twenty years ago we talked about the rise of social media and it’s potential for cheap and easy communication. Now nonprofits have dedicated employees focused on their social media presence. With the professionalization of this type of work we have become more competitive in the marketplace for attention, brought best practice to the way that we communicate with constituents, and we are meeting the next generation of donors where they are; on their phones, and through TikTok and YouTube. Here are some stats to consider:

Ever heard of a board member talking about how the nonprofit should invest in billboards? Well, it’s easier, cheaper and it’s gonna reach a lot more people if you make a video. The best part is the video should come from the heart, move people to get engaged.

To illustrate the point, I created video and I hope you will watch it. It’s 1 minute long and it’s a quick intro about me, what I’m doing and an appeal to the listener. I didn’t use any fancy equipment and you don’t need to either.

My goal in the next few months is to meet more changemakers, nonprofit-doers and amazing mission-focused people and I plan to make video a part of my professional strategy. I think with a little creativity, consistency and stories from the heart, you’ll reach more people, spread your mission and make a bigger impact in your community.

So, why not give it a try? Embrace the power of video, and let's see what incredible things we can achieve together.
